Unveiling the Visionary Duo Behind Compuera Group of Schools: George and Jean Muhoho
In the narrative of Compuera Schools' rise to prominence, the dynamic duo of George and Jean Muhoho emerges as the driving force behind its inception and success. Their journey from founding an IT-focused college in 1993 to establishing a renowned academy and high school reflects a shared commitment to innovation, excellence, and educational empowerment.
George Kamau Muhoho's passion for education was ignited at an early age, growing up in Kenya with a deep appreciation for the transformative power of learning. Over the years, George Muhoho's career in education, which began before Kenya’s independence, flourished as he assumed various roles within the sector, leveraging his expertise to improve educational opportunities for students across Kenya.
His commitment to innovation and excellence led to the establishment of Compuera College alongside his wife Jean Muhoho, a seasoned lawyer. Their venture into IT-focused education was further reinforced after George Muhoho, then serving as Kenya’s Minister of Education, attended a ministers’ education meeting in Ottawa, Canada on January 23, 1996. At this meeting, he listened to Bill Gates discuss his newly released book, "The Road Ahead," and its implications for the future of technology in education. This encounter reaffirmed their vision of harnessing technology to revolutionize education.
After much success the duo later opened Compuera Academy in 2000, a pioneering institution renowned for its forward-thinking approach to education.
In 2003, fueled by their unwavering dedication to empowering young women, George and Jean Muhoho took a monumental step forward with the founding of Compuera Girls High School. Guided by their shared vision of providing a transformative educational experience, they set out to create a school that would empower girls to excel academically, morally, and socially.
Initially named Compuera Girls High School, the institution later underwent a transformation, relocating its campus to Kiambu County. With the move came a new name - Compuera Mang'u Girls High School - paying homage to its roots while embracing its future in a new location.
Under the visionary leadership of George and Jean Muhoho, Compuera Mang'u Girls High School has flourished, becoming a beacon of excellence and empowerment in the educational landscape of Kenya. Their unwavering dedication to providing a holistic education that nurtures the minds, hearts, and spirits of young women has earned the school acclaim and admiration from students, parents, and educators alike.
As George and Jean Muhoho continue to chart the course for Compuera Schools, their legacy of innovation, passion, and commitment to educational excellence serves as an inspiration to all who believe in the transformative power of education.
